I frequently receive requests for help from people who have been swindled out of large sums of cash by people they met on the Internet.
Unfortunately, in the vast majority of those cases there’s really nothing I can do to help.
I received another of those sad requests just last night, and this one upset me even more than usual…

If so, there’s an insidious scam going around right now that could cost you thousands in cash, lost sales and property damage, or even the outright loss of your property.
An old, but dangerous scam that targets Apple customers recently started making the rounds once again.
As usual, there are several variations of the scam, but they all work something like this…
You receive a text message or social media IM stating that your Apple ID has been disabled due to an “unusual sign-in attempt” or some other pretext.

Question from Rhonda: My cell service is from T-Mobile and they label calls they think might be from scammers as “Scam Likely”.
I get several of these “Scam Likely” calls a day and I’ve been just ignoring them.
But the other day I got a call from my friend (who lives out of state) and it mistakenly labeled her call as “Scam Likely”. [Read more…]
