Why it’s a bad idea to respond to ‘Feel Good Posts’ on Facebook

If you use Facebook, you have surely seen tons of “feel good posts” pop up in your newsfeed. And if you’re like most people, you probably “Like” and “Share” some of them.

I used to Like and Share them too, back before I learned how dangerous they can be.

“Feel good posts” typically consist of a cute photo (often of a puppy, a kitten or a child) looking all lovable and cuddly. The photo will usually have some text on it that makes it almost impossible not to like or share the post.

As you probably know by now, the scammers of the world are always coming up with new ways to separate innocent people from their hard-earned money.

Since the dawn of the World Wide Web, most phishing scams have been perpetrated via email, but that’s beginning to change.

While email is still the primary vehicle for delivering these types of scams, a relatively new generation of scams are now arriving in the form of SMS text messages.

Scam alert: Facebook is not going to make your private info public

Well, this frequently recurring hoax is making the rounds on Facebook yet again.

Like most Facebook hoaxes, this one should be easy to recognize as such, but for whatever reason it’s being shared all over the place once again.

The actual wording of the hoax varies a bit, but it basically says Facebook is going to make all of your posts, comments, photos and messages public unless you copy and paste the fake scam warning to your Timeline.
