Q&A: Is the Copy Plain Text browser extension safe?

Posted on July 14, 2024

Question from Amber:  I do a lot of copying and pasting when I’m writing posts for my lifestyle blog.

Something that always irritates me is having to paste everything into Notepad to get rid of the formatting and then copy the “clean” text and paste it into the blog post I’m working on.

I checked Google and found a Firefox browser extension called Copy Plain Text that allows you to copy text and paste it without the formatting.

My question is, do you think it’s safe to use this extension?  [Read more…]

This is how I prefer to open ‘File Explorer’

Posted on April 19, 2024

The Windows Desktop in every version of Microsoft Windows since Windows 95 has included a “My Computer” icon which opened the handy “Windows Explorer” window when you clicked on it.

All recent versions of Windows till have the “My Computer” icon, but it’s now called “This PC”. And “Windows Explorer” is now called “File Explorer”.

Posted on January 8, 2024

Starting with the release of Windows 8, Microsoft migrated several important system settings from the Control Panel to the new Settings app.

They also added a bunch of new settings to the Settings app that weren’t even available in previous Windows versions.

And now with Windows 10 and Windows 11 they keep placing even more important settings in there with virtually every new major update.

With the Settings app getting more important every day, I thought it would be a good idea to explain the fastest methods you can use to open it.

Why I love using Keyboard Shortcuts

Posted on December 1, 2023

Regular readers of this blog know that I’m a huge fan of keyboard shortcuts.

I spend several hours every day working with a variety of computers so I’m always looking for ways to work more efficiently.

Using the keyboard to accomplish common tasks saves me a ton of time because I rarely have to take my hands off the keyboard.

In a nutshell, keyboard shortcuts let you accomplish tasks that would often take several mouse clicks with just a single tap of a key (or key combination).  [Read more…]
