Question from Janelle: I know there probably isn’t a way to do what I’m asking, but I thought I’d ask anyway.
I have to keep my phone silenced when I’m at work, but my dad is very seriously ill and I need to be able to get messages from my mom in case something happens with him.
I really need for my phone to ring if she calls so I can leave the room and call her back. Is there any way that I can let my mom call me even when I have my iPhone set to “Do Not Disturb”?

Question from Pauline: I have a question for you Rick.
I’ve been using a 7 inch Android tablet for my Facebooking but the battery recently went bad in it.
Instead of buying another Android tablet I decided to try an iPad. I ended up buying a 10.9 inch model which is a bit larger than what I was used to.
I didn’t know what to expect because I’d never owned anything from Apple before, but I found out that I really love it.
I’m having one problem though. I could hold the 7 inch tablet by its sides and type with my thumbs, but I can’t do that with the larger iPad because the keys are spread out too far.
Do you know if there’s a way to make it easier to type on my new iPad using my thumbs? Maybe by using an app, perhaps? [Read more…]

Question from Ronnie: I have a question about Safari on my iPhone.
I have an account with an online service (I’d rather not say what it is) that I’ve been accessing for over a year with my iPhone.
I just bought a new laptop and I want to start accessing that website on it instead of my iPhone.
The problem is I can’t remember the password because Safari has been automatically filling it in for me.
Is there any way I can view that stored password in Safari so I can use it to log into the account on my laptop? [Read more…]

Apple’s Siri virtual assistant certainly makes using an iPhone a lot easier, but just like us humans Siri has a few quirks.
One Siri quirk that drives me up the wall is how she tends to mis-pronounce some names on the Contacts List. For some reason it just grates on my nerves.
The good news is you can train Siri to pronounce difficult names correctly, using one of the two methods listed below: [Read more…]
