Question from Brenda T.: I have a very serious problem, Rick.
Someone keeps logging into my Facebook account and posting really nasty stuff on my Timeline and pretending that it’s me.
I have no proof, but I think it’s my ex. We parted on nasty terms.
I’ve changed my password several times but they always manage to get back in somehow and post more nasty things on my Timeline.
I know it’s not a virus because I ran all the scans listed in your virus removal post and no infections were found.
I’ve already lost several friends because of this. How can I stop it once and for all?

As you probably know, there are almost as many scams and hoaxes on Facebook as there are grains of sand on a beach.
Old scams and hoaxes never really go away, and new ones keep popping up all the time.
There’s an old and very irritating hoax that’s making the rounds again right now, and it’s causing quite a stir among my Facebook friends and blog readers. It works something like this… [Read more…]

Question from Kim: Hi Rick. I’m a regular reader of your blog and I love your tips!
I’m having a problem with Facebook and I really need your help.
Someone is posting things from my Facebook account and making it look like it’s me posting it.
These posts are usually ads for things like sunglasses and other “junk”.
They post exactly three posts every day, always at the same exact times (7:30am, 1pm and 6pm).
I read your post that explains how to check to see if anyone is logged into your Facebook account and I’ve checked several times to see if I can catch them logged into my account, but no one is ever logged in even during the times that the posts are being published.
This is really confusing me. How can someone post something in my name from my Facebook account without even being logged into it?
I really need to get this stopped because I’m losing friends over it. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

As you probably know, Facebook scams and hoaxes take many forms.
Whether they show up in your newsfeed or arrive in your Messenger inbox, the results are always the same…
Lots of folks either get scammed or they become very irritated due to the deluge of fraudulent messages they receive.
The latest hoax to come to my attention is being spread primarily via Facebook Messenger.
