If you have a WiFi-enabled Windows PC there might come a time when you’ll need to switch your connection to a different WiFi network than the one your machine is currently connected to.
For example, your laptop might automatically connect to a network with a weak signal when you know there’s another network available with a much stronger signal.
Or perhaps it automatically connected to an insecure unencrypted network instead of the secure network you intended to use.
Whatever the reason, you can easily switch your PC’s Wi-Fi connection from one network to another one with just a few clicks of your mouse. Just follow the steps below for your Windows version…
Windows 10:
1 – Right-click on the network icon in the lower-right corner of the screen, then click Open Network & Internet settings.
2 – In the left-hand pane, click Wi-Fi.
3 – In the right-hand pane, click Show available networks.
Note: A box should now be open in the lower-right corner of the screen with all the available Wi-Fi networks listed within it.
4 – Click on the network you want to switch to, then click Connect and enter the SSID (i.e. WiFi password) if prompted to do so.
Windows 11:
1 – Right-click on the network icon in the lower-right corner of the screen, then click Network & Internet settings.
2 – In the right-hand pane, click Wi-Fi.
3 – Click Show available networks.
4 – Click on the network you want to switch to, then click Connect and enter the Network Security Key (i.e. WiFi password) if prompted to do so.
That’s all there is to it. Your PC should now be disconnected from the first WiFi network and connected to the one you chose to switch to.
