Question from Beverly K.: Hi there Rick. I need some help. All of a sudden my computer started doing some odd things when I press certain key combinations.
My daughter took a look at it, and she said she believes the keyboard is set to use British English instead of American English. How do I change it back? I’m using Windows 7 if that makes a difference. Thanks.
Rick’s answer: Beverly, it certainly sounds like your keyboard could indeed be set to use the wrong version of English. If so, here’s how to change it back to American English:
1 – Click the Start orb.
2 – Click Control Panel.
3 – Click Clock, Language and Region.
4 – Under “Region and Language”, click Change keyboards or other input methods.
5 – Select the General tab if it isn’t selected already..
6 – If you see English (United States) listed in the “Installed Services” section, select it. If you don’t see English (United States) in the list, click the Add button and select it from the drop-down list.
7 – Click Apply, then click Ok.
