How (and why) to enable ‘Night Mode’ on your computer
Do you use your computer at night, right up until the time you crawl into bed?
If so, there’s a setting on your machine that could potentially make it easier for you to fall asleep after you turn in for the night.
This special ‘Night Mode’ either reduces or eliminates the blue light that’s emitted by your computer screen while making the overall appearance of the screen softer and warmer.
Studies have found that this shift in colors can help calm the mind and prepare the body for sleep.
Some folks say enabling ‘Night Mode’ doesn’t really do anything for them, but plenty others says it helps a great deal.
If you’d like to give it a try just follow the steps below for the type of computer you’re using.
Windows 11: This special mode is called Night Light on Windows PCs. Here’s how to enable it:
1 – Right-click the Start button and select Settings from the menu.
2 – In the right-hand pane, click Display.
3 – Toggle the “Night Light” setting to On.
macOS: On a Mac this setting is called Night Shift. Enable it by following these steps:
1 – Click the Apple icon on the top menu bar.
2 – Click System Preferences.
3 – Click Displays.
4 – Click Night Shift.
5 – Click the Schedule pop-up menu and select your preferred option.
