Today’s quick tech tip….
How to view the desktop version of a website on an Android device
It’s no secret that having mobile versions of websites makes it a lot easier to view and interact with those sites when using a mobile browser on a smartphone or tablet.
But problems can arise when the mobile version of a site doesn’t include a feature, section or menu option that you really need to access.
Luckily, there’s an easy way around this problem: Just switch from the mobile site to the desktop site right in the mobile browser. Here’s how to do it on your Android device:
1 – Open the site you need to access in the Chrome mobile app.
2 – Tap the three vertical dots icon located in the top-right corner of the screen.
3 – Scroll down and select Desktop site from the menu.
That’s all there is to it. You should now see the desktop version of the website you’re visiting displayed on the screen.
Of course when viewing the desktop version of a site in a mobile browser it’s common for the text and images to be quite small.
Therefore, you might need to “pinch and zoom” the page in order to find and read the content or link you need to access.
When you’re ready to switch back to the mobile version of the site just repeat the steps listed above.
