Today’s quick tech tip….
This simple change can make reading on the web a lot easier
Do you primarily use your desktop computer for reading articles and blog posts, checking your email or perusing your social media feeds?
If so, there’s one very simple change you can make that will forever change (for the better) how you read things on the web: Rotate your monitor 90 degrees into a vertical position.
You’ll be amazed how much more text and other content you’ll be able to enjoy before having to scroll down. It really is a game changer.
The tricky part is figuring out how to physically rotate the screen into a vertical position.
Some monitors come with mounts that make it easy to rotate the screen by moving a knob or removing and then reinstalling a few screws.
However, even monitors that don’t have adjustable mounts can be rotated and held securely in the vertical position with zip ties or some other other type of fasteners. Whatever works for you is fine as long as the monitor is secured in a manner that will prevent it from falling over.
Once the screen has been physically mounted in the vertical position you’ll need to change one simple setting on the computer to rotate the digital contents of the display. Just follow the steps below for your computer type.
If you have a PC with Windows 11:
1 – Right-click the Start button, the select Settings from the menu.
2 – In the left-hand pane, click System.
3 – In the right-hand pane, click Display.
4 – Scroll down to the “Scale & layout” section and click Display orientation.
5 – Change the orientation from Landscape to Portrait.
If you have a PC with Windows 10:
1 – Right-click the Start button, the select Settings from the menu.
2 – Click System.
3 – Click Display.
4 – In the “Scale & layout” section, change the “Display orientation” setting to Portrait.
If you have a Mac:
1 – Click the Apple icon on the top menu bar, then select System Preferences from the menu.
2 – Click Displays, then click Display Settings.
3 – Select your display in the sidebar.
4 – Click the Rotation pop-up menu and select 90 degrees.
5 – Click Confirm.
That’s all there is to it. Once you make this change you’ll probably wish you had done it a long time ago.
