Today’s Quick Tip….
Why you should disable all unused browser extensions
If you’re like most computer users these days you probably have several browser extensions enabled on your favorite web browser.
And truth be told, a few well-selected extensions can make your Internet experience a lot more interesting and productive.
But the thing is, those same extensions could also cause problems for you at some point in the future.
First, there’s performance…
Every browser extension that’s enabled gobbles up a bit of your computer’s resources. In most cases this isn’t really a problem, but if you have a slow system already a couple of resource-hungry extensions can make a big difference.
And then there’s security…
Every extension you have installed is one more potential avenue for a hacker to take to barge into your computer system and wreak all kinds of havoc.
And finally, there are conflicts…
If you have a bunch of browser extensions enabled at the same time they are all competing with one another for resources and the CPU’s attention.
This digital tug-of-war can occasionally cause strange things to happen while you’re using your computer.
Recommendation: If you never use a particular extension you should probably just go ahead and remove it.
If you have extensions that you use on rare occasions, disable them and then re-enable them temporarily when you need them. Then when you finish the task at hand, disable them again.
