Today’s Quick Tip….
Do you happen to live in an area that has multiple options for choosing an Internet provider? If so, consider yourself lucky.
The only currently available option in many areas of the US is traditional satellite Internet, and until SpaceX’s Starlink satellite Internet becomes available nationwide there will be no second option for most of those folks.
If you do have multiple Internet providers to choose from and you’re wondering which type of service to choose, here are my recommendations (in order from first choice to last):
1 – Fiber Internet – (Typically the fastest, and most reliable option at the moment in the limited areas where it’s available)
2 – Cable Internet – (Not as fast as most available fiber Internet plans, but pretty close in some areas)
3 – Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) Internet – (Ranges from slightly faster than dial-up to the slowest of the cable tiers, depending on the level of service that’s available in your area)
4 – Traditional Satellite Internet – (Download speeds that are comparable to lower-tier cable Internet plans, but with high latency and absurdly low effective data usage limits)
All of the above being said, once SpaceX’s Starlink service comes fully online and matures it will become a game-changer in the ISP marketplace. Stay tuned and keep your fingers crossed…
