Question from Liam F.: I brought my old HP Desktop PC up from the basement so my daughter could use it while her laptop is being repaired, but I can’t remember the password for logging into Windows.
How can I reset the password so she can use this computer? It’s running Windows 7 Home Premium. Thanks in advance for your help.
Rick’s answer: There are actually several ways to reset a forgotten Windows password Liam, but the easiest way is to download a free utility called Lazesoft Recovery Suite.
Lazesoft Recovery Suite includes several powerful tools for use with the Windows operating system, but the one that I use most often is the password reset tool. Here’s how to use it:
1 – Download the program and install it. (Click the first download link you see at the top of the box containing the various options.)
2 – After the installation is complete, click on the Lazesoft Recovery Suite icon on the Desktop to launch the utility.
3 – Create a bootable recovery media by inserting either an empty USB flash drive or blank CD-R, then clicking the Burn CD/USB DISK button.
4 – Boot the PC with the forgotten password from the recovery media, select the Password Recovery option, then follow the prompts to reset the Windows Password.
That’s all there is to it Liam. Good luck!
