Facebook is a wonderful service that makes it easy to keep in touch with family and friends, but as we all know, using it can be an exercise in frustration at times.
One of the biggest frustrations for many Facebook users is how the newsfeed keeps getting switched from “Most Recent” to “Top Stories”.
Unfortunately, toggling the newsfeed from “Top Stories” to “Most Recent” seems to only work for a little while. Before you know it, you’re back to looking at Facebook’s list of “Top Stories”, whether you want to or not.
But guess what? There’s now an easy way to make your newsfeed stay on “Most Recent”, and after testing it for several days I can tell you that it works like a charm!
All you have to do is install a nifty browser extension called Social Fixer!
Social Fixer will help you “fix” a ton of Facebook’s annoyances, one of which is the constant reverting back to the “Top Stories” newsfeed setting.
You can read more about Social Fixer and all the “fixes” that it will take care of for you on the Social Fixer website, but if you just want to install it on your browser and put it to work right now you can follow the steps below for your browser:
If you’re using Google Chrome…
1 – Visit this page in the Chrome Web Store with your Google Chrome browser.
2 – Click the Add to Chrome button and install the “Social Fixer” extension on your computer.
3 – Close your Chrome browser, then re-launch it and log in to your Facebook account.
If you’re using Mozilla Firefox…
1 – Visit this page in the Mozilla Add-Ons Repository with your Firefox browser.
2 – Click the Add to Firefox button and install the “Social Fixer” extension on your computer.
3 – Close your Chrome browser, then re-launch it and log in to your Facebook account.
That’s all there is to it. Your Facebook newsfeed should never switch back to “Top Stories” again!
As I mentioned earlier, the Social Fixer extension does a LOT more than just lock in your choice for the “Most Recent/Top Stories” setting.
I recommend that you spend a few minutes checking out all the various “fixes” it provides to make your Facebook experience more enjoyable. Trust me, there are some real gems in there!
