How to easily disable automatic updates in Windows 10

In the past, I have typically recommended having automatic updates enabled on Windows machines, for one reason: Protection against recently discovered security threats.

I still believe that to be the best course of action for most Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users.

That being said, a recent string of bad updates have created serious problems on some Windows 10 PCs, prompting me to start recommending that you disable automatic updates on your Windows 10 machine for the time being. [Read more…]

Q&A: Why does the touch screen on my iPhone 6 Plus stop working at random times?

Question from Gracie: The touch screen on my iPhone 6 Plus has started freezing up on me at random times.

There doesn’t seem to be any kind of pattern as to when the issue arises. The screen just stops responding to taps and swipes on occasion. It will usually start working again after a few minutes if I just leave it alone and don’t touch it.

This is really irritating because I can’t even answer a call if it comes in when the screen is froze. Can you tell me how to fix it?

Do you use Target’s “Wish List” app? If so, your personal information is at risk.

The security firm Avast has announced that they have found a serious security flaw connected to Target’s popular “Wish List” app.

As you might recall, over 40 million Target shoppers had their personal information compromised just a couple of years ago. And now your info could possibly be at risk yet again.

In a nutshell, the newly-discovered flaw makes it easy for hackers to download the full names, mailing addresses and email addresses of every user who has used Target’s app to create a Christmas Wish List. [Read more…]
