Question from Reece: I’ve been sending out a weekly newsletter for almost three years.
I recently found out that lots of my Gmail subscribers are having my emails go into their Promotions folder instead of their Inboxes.
I did some Google searches to see if I could find out why this is happening and how I can fix it.

Microsoft provides a utility called MSCONFIG that allows us to determine and control which programs Windows loads at Startup, but unfortunately it is woefully lacking.
MSCONFIG does list the major applications that start up automatically, but it doesn’t provide anywhere near a full list of all the independent processes that load into memory with every boot-up and consume precious CPU clock cycles.

Have you ever been watching a YouTube video and thought it would be great to have a written transcript of everything that was being said?
There are certain situations in which a transcript can sure come in handy.
For example, if a video is featuring a chef preparing a recipe, a written transcript would probably be easier to follow while you’re preparing that dish later in your own kitchen.
Luckily, it’s very easy to view (and optionally save as a file or print) a transcript of any YouTube video on either a computer or a mobile device. [Read more…]
It seems like every time we turn on our computers and mobile devices these days there are updates waiting to be installed.
This seemingly endless stream of updates can be annoying when you’re needing to get something done in a hurry, but I strongly recommend installing security updates right away, before you do anything else.
