Monthly Tech Giveaway….
Long-time subscribers to my daily Rick’s Tech Tips Newsletter will remember that I used to feature a monthly Tech Gadget Giveaway that all active subscribers were eligible to win.
I ended up having to suspend that giveaway due to the onset of the Covid pandemic, but now is the time to bring it back – better than ever.
The prizes featured in the new giveaway will include a combination of items I received for testing and review and brand new items that will provided directly by partner companies.
Winners will be selected at random. All Standard subscribers have an equal chance to win. All Premium subscribers have two chances (their email addresses are added to the pot twice).
November’s winner will receive a Brother DCPL2550DW Multifunction Monochrome Laser Printer, Scanner and Copier. Click here for details.

Today’s featured tech tip….
Make your iPhone flash when a call or text comes in
If you (or someone you love) is hearing impaired it might be helpful to have your smartphone’s LED light to flash every time a call or text comes in.
If you have an iPhone you can set this up with just a few taps:
1 – Tap Settings.
2 – Tap Accessibility.
3 – Tap Audio/Visual.
4 – Toggle the “LED Flash for Alerts” setting to On.
That’s all there is to it. Just remember that your iPhone’s LED will only flash if the phone is locked.
In regards to Android phones, not all of them have an “LED flash on Alerts” (or similar) setting.
You can find out if yours does by going into your phone’s Accessibility settings and searching for a setting similar to the one mentioned in the Phone section above.
If your phone doesn’t have such a setting you can use an app to make the LED flash when a call or text comes in.
Simply open the Google Play Store and search for the term flash alert. You’ll find several apps to choose from. Just read the descriptions and ratings and choose the one that looks the best to you.
