My Monthly Tech Giveaway is back!
Long-time subscribers to my daily Rick’s Tech Tips Newsletter will remember that I used to feature a monthly Tech Gadget Giveaway that all active subscribers were eligible to win.
I ended up having to suspend that giveaway due to the onset of the Covid pandemic, but now is the time to bring it back – better than ever.
The prizes featured in the new giveaway will include a combination of items I received for testing and review and brand new items that will provided directly by partner companies.
Winners will be selected at random. All Standard subscribers have an equal chance to win. All Premium subscribers have two chances (their email addresses are added to the pot twice).
November’s winner will receive a Brother DCPL2550DW Multifunction Monochrome Laser Printer, Scanner and Copier. Click here for details.

Today’s featured tech tip….
How to block ‘adult’ web results from your Windows searches
If you use the Windows Search tool you’ve probably noticed that it first displays relevant suggestions from your local PC first and then augments those suggestions with relevant results from the web.
And chances are you’ve also noticed that some of those web results include content of an adult nature.
By default the Windows Search tool filters out results that contain adult images and videos, but it does not filter out results that contain adult oriented text.
However, you can easily change that if you want to block ALL adult web content from your Windows Search results. Just follow the steps below:
1 – Click the Start button to display the Start menu, then immediately start typing the words search permissions.
2 – Click Search permissions and history after it pops up in the list of search results.
3 – Find the “SafeSearch” section and select Strict from the list of available options.
4 – Click the X in the top-right corner of the Settings app to close it.
That’s all there is to it. The Windows Search tool should no longer include any pages in the web search results that contain any type of adult oriented content.
Just be aware that while the Windows Search ‘Adult Content Filter’ generally works well, it isn’t perfect.
Even with the filter set to “Strict” there’s still a slight chance that an ‘adult’ web search result will slip through on occasion.
