Today’s quick tech tip….
Where to recycle your old computers and tech gear
If you have some old, unused tech items laying around your house you might be wondering where you can recycle them in order to keep them (and their toxic materials) out of your local landfill.
Well, the first place to check is actually your landfill or garbage collection service since many of them do recycle electronic items as a service that’s separate from regular garbage disposal.
Another option (if there is one near you) is your local Best Buy store.
Best Buy will allow you to recycle up to three items per day right at the store. This page explains how their recycling service works and which types of items are accepted.
And now, one final option…
Many cities, towns and even rural communities have for-profit recycling companies that will actually pay cash money for your old computer equipment and various other items.
Of course you won’t get rich selling your old gear to a recycler, but you’ll at least leave with a little gas money along with the satisfaction of knowing you’re helping keep your landfill clear of toxic materials.
