Today’s featured tech tip….
Make life easier by using multiple web browsers
If you’re anything like me you probably have several websites and online accounts that you use on a daily basis.
Switching back and forth between various tabs in the same browser is both tedious and time-consuming, especially if you use more than one account with a particular website or service.
Well here’s a little tip that can save you a lot of time (not to mention a lot of clicking)…
Use several different browsers at once, each of which is dedicated to just one or two websites or accounts.
For example, I keep my Outlook web mail open in Firefox.
Facebook is always open in Opera.
The WordPress Dashboard for my Rick’s Daily Tips Tech Blog is always open in Chrome.
And finally, I do my Internet research and general web surfing in Vivaldi.
How does this help me work more efficiently? In all the following ways:
1 – I have the home page for each browser set to the website I always use with that browser.
That way when I open Firefox the Outlook web mail home page opens automatically. All I have to do is sign in and get right to work checking my email.
Likewise, when I open Opera, there’s Facebook already loaded and ready to go.
And Chrome? It loads WordPress automatically so I can sign in and immediately start writing my next blog post.
2 – When I need to switch from one website or service to another I don’t have to hover my mouse over the Taskbar icons to find the tab I’m looking for. I simply glance at the taskbar for the appropriate icon and then click on it.
For example, when I need to switch from whatever I’m doing at the time to Facebook I just click the big red O (the icon for Opera) and boom, there’s Facebook.
When I’m ready to switch to WordPress I simply click on the icon for Chrome.
That’s all there is to it. Using multiple browsers makes switching from site to site and account to account very quick and easy. It really saves me a lot of time because I’m constantly switching tasks while I’m working.
