Q&A: Can I connect an external monitor to my Chromebook?
Question from Elizabeth: My HP desktop computer stopped working and I ended up replacing it with a 14 inch Chromebook.
I’m used to watching Hulu on the computer’s large 27 inch monitor and I’m finding it difficult to adjust to watching on the Chromebook’s tiny 14 inch screen.
What I’d like to know is can I connect the now-unused 27 inch monitor to the Chromebook and watch Hulu on that instead of the Chromebook’s screen?
Rick’s answer: I have great news for you, Elizabeth. You can indeed connect your 27 inch monitor to your Chromebook as a secondary screen.
What you’ll need to do is get an adapter cable that mates up with the Chromebook on one end and the monitor on the other end.
The adapter cable you’ll need will depend on which specific brands and models of Chromebook and monitor you have.
You didn’t include that info in your message and I can’t help you figure out exactly what you need without that info, but if you can send me the brand and model number of both devices I’ll be happy to help you find out.
Once you have the correct adapter cable on hand you’ll find instructions for connecting everything up and getting it to work on this Google Support page.
