Today’s quick tech tip….
How to open compressed (.zip) files on your Android device
If you’ve ever downloaded a compressed (.zip) file to your Android phone or tablet, chances are you didn’t have much luck opening it.
As you likely found out, Android’s otherwise-decent default file manager app doesn’t play well with .zip files.
Luckily, Google does provide an excellent file management app that can easily unzip any .zip file right on your device.
This app is called Files by Google, and it works like a charm. Here’s how to use it to unzip and access .zip files on your Android device:
1 – Open the Play Store app and search for Files by Google, then install it.
2 – Tap Browse and navigate to the folder that contains the .zip file you want to unzip, then tap on that file to select it.
3 – Tap Extract.
4 – (Optional) – If you want to delete the original .zip file after the extraction is complete, check the box beside Delete ZIP file. I recommend that you do this to free up storage space on your device.
5 – Tap Done.
That’s all there is to it. You should now be able to see the extracted file(s) in the same folder the original .zip file was in.
By the way, the Files by Google app does a lot more than just unzip compressed .zip files.
It’s actually a very useful file management app with tons of handy features and tools. I recommend that you spend some time playing around with it to see what’s available.

UGREEN USB 3.0 to SATA/IDE Hard Drive Adapter (#ad)
This little gem will allow you to connect virtually any bare SATA or IDE hard drive to a working PC to retrieve the files from it.
This is especially handy for those times when a computer goes belly-up and you don’t have a backup of the files that are stored on its hard drive.
It’s also quite useful for cloning the contents of one drive onto another drive.
