Today’s quick tech tip….
How do I make Gmail my iPhone’s default mail app?
Question from Brenda: I have the Gmail app installed on my iPhone. I use my Gmail address for everything so I prefer using that app instead of Apple Mail.
How do I set Gmail as my iPhone’s default mail app?
Rick’s answer: I’ll be happy to help you with this, Brenda.
It’s actually pretty easy to designate a different app as the default mail app on an iPhone. Just follow the steps below to make Gmail the default app on yours:
1 – Tap your iPhone’s Settings icon (it looks like a “gear“).
2 – Scroll down and tap Gmail.
3 – Tap Default Mail App.
4 – Tap Gmail.
That’s all there is to it, Brenda. Gmail is now your iPhone’s default mail app. That means from now on when you tap on email links they should open in Gmail instead of Apple Mail.
