Today’s quick tech tip….
How to find out how much RAM is in your Android phone
Just like computers, tablets and many other devices that have chips in them, your Android smartphone has some Random Access Memory (RAM) in it.
And just like with those other devices, the amount of RAM that’s installed has a direct bearing on how fast your phone can operate.
Curious about how much RAM is in your Android phone? You can easily find out by following the steps below:
1 – Tap the Settings icon (it looks like a “gear“).
2 – Scroll all the way to the bottom and tap About phone.
3 – Scroll all the way to the bottom and tap Build number several times in rapid succession until you see the message “You are now a developer”.
4 – Tap the Back button repeatedly until you have completely exited the Settings app.
5 – Tap the Settings icon (aka the “gear” icon) again to reopen the Settings app.
6 – Scroll down and tap System.
7 – Tap Developer options.
Note: Depending which phone you have, you might need to tap Advanced in order to see Developer options.
8 – Look for the “Memory” line and you should see something like “Avg XXGB of YYGB used”. The number in the YY position is the total amount of RAM that’s in your phone.
Note: Round the number displayed in the YY position up to the next whole number in order to get the actual total amount of RAM.)
9 – (optional) – Tap on the word Memory to get more detailed info about your phone’s memory usage.
