Today’s Quick Tip….
How to get the most fuel-efficient route with Google Maps
It’s no secret that gasoline prices have gone through the roof, and they could soon be headed towards the stratosphere.
This unfortunate turn of events has many drivers seeking ways to reduce their fuel consumption as much as possible while still making the trips they really need to make.
If you use the Google Maps app to get directions to your destinations there’s a way to make the app use the route that’s most fuel-efficient instead of the shortest distance or the fastest driving time.
Follow the steps below to get the directions that should result in your car using the least amount of gas:
1 – Open the Google Maps app on your device.
2 – Search for the location you’re planning to visit, then tap the Directions button.
You should now see the route options that are available to you. If the selected route (the one highlighted in blue) has a “leaf” icon that means the most fuel-efficient route has already been selected.
If there’s another route that’s more fuel-efficient than the one that’s currently selected simply tap on it to select it.
3 – Tap the Start button and follow the directions as provided.
That’s all there is to it. Now that you’ve selected the most fuel-efficient route you should (hopefully) save some gas money on this trip.
