Today’s featured tech tip….
Make Windows 11 warn you about pending PC restarts
Have you returned to your PC only to find that it had automatically restarted to install an update?
Yeah, me too, and it’s always frustrating.
Luckily, there’s a settings change you can make that will force your Windows 11 PC to inform you ahead of time that a pending update requires a restart. That way you’ll know in advance and you’ll be able to plan for it.
Just follow the steps below to enable that notification:
1 – Right-click on the Start button, then click Settings.
2 – In the left-hand pane, click Windows Update.
3 – In the right-hand pane, click Advanced options.
4 – Toggle the “Notify me when a restart is required to finish updating” setting to On.
That’s all there is to it. From now on you’ll be notified ahead of time when your PC needs to be restarted in order to finish installing an update.
