Today’s Quick Tip….
How do I get File Explorer back onto my Taskbar?
Question from Sarah: I have a Windows desktop computer and I used to have a File Explorer icon on the Taskbar, but now it’s gone. How can I get it back?
Rick’s answer: Sarah, your question is basically the reverse of what most people ask regarding the Taskbar File Explorer icon. They almost always want to get rid of it.
That being said, I can certainly understand why you might want the convenience of having a File Explorer window just one click away.
Luckily, it’s very easy to pin the File Explorer icon right back onto your Taskbar. Here’s how:
1 – Press the Windows+E key combination to open a File Explorer window. You should now see the File Explorer icon on the Taskbar.
2 – Right-click on the File Explorer icon on the Taskbar and select Pin to taskbar from the pop-up menu.
That’s all there is to it. You should now have a semi-permanent icon for the File Explorer tool on the Taskbar that will stay there even after you close a File Explorer window.
Note: If you ever change you mind you can always right-click on that icon again and select Unpin from taskbar.
