Today’s quick tech tip….
Why you should uninstall any apps that you don’t use
Does your smartphone or tablet have some apps on it that you haven’t used in the last six months?
Chances are, the answer is yes. If so, I recommend that you uninstall them unless you know for certain that you’ll be needing to use them in the not-so-distant future.
Why? Two reasons…
1 – Every installed app uses up a portion of your phone’s available storage space. If your phone is running low on storage removing all your unused apps just might give it a bit (or even a lot) of breathing room.
2 – Some apps consume a portion of your cellular plan’s monthly data allotment even when you aren’t using it. If you’ve been using up most or all of your data every month, removing all of your unused apps might help.
3 – Every app that’s installed on a device is an unnecessary security risk because it’s one more potential back door that hackers might be able to use to break in and take over the device (or at least steal your personal and financial info from it).
Bottom line: If you haven’t used an app in at least six months, I strongly recommend that you kick it to the curb. If you ever need to use it again, you can simply reinstall it from the app store.
Even if it’s a paid app you’ll still be able to reinstall it as long as the subscription is still active.
