Today’s quick tech tip….
How to display the ‘Details Pane’ in File Explorer
The ‘File Explorer’ is one of the most-used tools on any Windows PC, but most users are completely unaware of one its most useful features.
You easily display a “Details Pane” that will give a snapshot of the details for the selected folder or file. Once this feature has been activated you’ll be able to click on any folder or file on any drive and see a list of the details for the file over on the right-hand side of the File Explorer window.
It’s very easy to activate the Details Pane on your PC. Just follow the steps below for your version of Windows.
Windows 10:
1 – Press the Windows+E key combination to open a File Explorer window.
2 – Select the View tab, then click Details pane over on the left.
Windows 11:
1 – Press the Windows+E key combination to open a File Explorer window.
2 – Click View on the top menu bar, then select Show>Details pane from the drop-down menu.
That’s all there is to it. From now on when you open File Explorer and click on a folder or file you’ll see the ‘details’ info for the selected item listed over on the right.
