Today’s featured tech tip….
How to force File Explorer to default to ‘This PC’ in Windows 11
As you probably know, the File Explorer tool in Windows 11 can be viewed in two different ways: “Quick Access” and “This PC”.
Personally, I prefer using File Explorer in “This PC” mode, but Window 11 displays it in “Quick Access” mode by default.
If you feel the same way you can always simply click the This PC link to switch to that mode once File Explorer is open, but you can easily force it to open with that option already selected if you want. Here’s how:
1 – Press the Windows+E key combination to open a File Explorer window.
2 – Click the three dots at the right side of the top menu bar, then click Options.
3 – Change the “Open File Explorer to” option to This PC.
4 – Click OK.
That’s all there is to it. From now on File Explorer will always open with the “This PC” view active by default.
