How to quickly tweak all of Windows’ Privacy settings
In their default states, both Windows 10 and Windows 11 are horrible at respecting and protecting your privacy.
There are dozens of privacy settings you can tweak to lock down your privacy as much as possible while using Windows, but locating them all can be a real chore if you simply start going through all of the Windows menus searching for them.
Luckily, Microsoft has provided a handy tool that makes all of those important privacy settings available in one place.
It’s called the “Privacy Dashboard” and it really is a fantastic time-saver. Here’s how to launch it in either version of Windows…
If your PC has Windows 10:
1 – Right-click on the Start button, then select Settings from the menu.
2 – Click Privacy.
3 – Find the “Know your privacy options” section and click Privacy dashboard.
Note: You should now see a new tab open in your default browser containing an introduction to the Privacy Dashboard.
4 – Take a few moments to review the info on that screen, then click the Sign In With Microsoft button.
5 – When prompted to do so, enter the password for your Microsoft account.
You should now see the full Privacy Dashboard with all the settings you can tweak listed on it.
If your PC has Windows 11:
1 – Right-click on the Start button, then select Settings from the menu.
2 – In the left-hand pane, click Privacy & security.
3 – In the right-hand pane, scroll down to the “Windows permissions” section and click General.
4 – Click the Privacy dashboard link in the “Privacy resources” section.
Note: You should now see a new tab open in your default browser containing an introduction to the Privacy Dashboard.
5 – Take a few moments to review the info on that screen, then click the Sign In With Microsoft button.
6 – When prompted to do so, enter the password for your Microsoft account.
You should now see the full Privacy Dashboard with all the settings you can tweak listed on it.
That’s all there is to it. You now have access to all of your Microsoft and Windows PC’s privacy settings in one place, thanks to the super-handy Privacy Dashboard.
