Today’s quick tech tip….
How to use Google as an instant dictionary
Most folks use the Google search box simply as a tool for finding whatever they’re looking for on the web, but truth be told, that simple search box does a whole lot more.
I do a LOT of reading so one of my personal favorite uses for Google is as an always-handy dictionary.
If I come across a word I’m unfamiliar with I just make a quick pass by Google and get the definition. Luckily, it’s very easy…
Simply type define: into the search box followed by the word you want the definition of and you’ll be all set.
For example, let’s say you want to get the definition of the word “macular”. Just type the following into the Google search box and either press the Enter key or hit the magnifying glass icon:
define:macular
Pretty simple, right?
The dictionary function is just one of many handy things you can use the Google search box for. I’ll be highlighting some of the other most useful ones in future issues.
