Today’s quick tech tip….
How to check the temperature of your PC’s processor
Did you know over-heating could cause premature failure of your PC’s processor (CPU)? And under the right conditions it could even destroy it outright.
Many modern processors are designed to shut down when they over-heat to prevent damage from occurring, but some aren’t.
If you’re unsure about the status of your processor’s operating temperature you can easily find out by using a nifty free download called Core Temp.
Core Temp will give you a real-time view of the temperature of each discrete CPU core.
You can then look up your CPU model (listed on the Core Temp status screen) via your favorite search engine to find out if the temps you’re seeing are within the normal operating range for that particular CPU.
If they are, you’re good to go. If not, you’ll need to find out why in order to prevent excess heat from potentially sending your processor to an early demise.
