Another day, another data breach…
Did you make a purchase from GameStop’s online store between mid-September 2016 and the first week of February 2017?
If so, there’s a chance your credit card information might have been stolen by hackers.
Online security firm KrebsOnSecurity has announced that GameStop has been informed about a possible credit card data breach and the company is currently investigating it and taking actions to prevent future breaches.
Bottom line: If you made even one online purchase at GameStop.com during the timeframe mentioned above you should contact your bank or credit card issuer right away and ask them to cancel the card(s) you used to make the purchase(s) and send you a replacement card.
You should also monitor your credit card or bank account for several months to make sure that no unauthorized charges show up in the future.
