Today’s quick tech tip….
How to verify that ‘Reputation-Based Protection’ is enabled on your PC
Windows 11 comes with a fantastic set of protections against potentially malicious apps and other potential threats.
The settings for these protections all fall under the umbrella of ‘Reputation-Based Protection’ and they are usually enabled by default on Windows 11 machines.
However, not all PCs have every setting enabled right out of the box, and I’ve seen some new systems that has all of them disabled when I checked.
Luckily, it’s very easy to verify that all of your Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC’s ‘Reputation-Based Protection’ settings are enabled. Just follow these steps:
1 – Click the Start button and type the word reputation, then select Reputation-based protection from the list of search results.
2 – Make sure every slider on this screen is set to On and every box is checked.
Note: I prefer to keep every setting on this screen enabled but you do have the option of picking and choosing which settings (if any) that you’d rather have turned off.
That’s all there is to it. Now you can rest assured that your PC’s ‘Reputation-Based Protection’ settings are set exactly the way you want them.
