Today’s Quick Tip….
How to remove or disable bloatware apps in Android
Have you ever taken a good look at the list of all the apps that are installed on your Android phone or tablet?
If so, you probably noticed that there are dozens of apps on there that were never installed by you.
Those “bloatware” apps were preinstalled on the device at the factory, and truth be told you’ll probably never use most of them.
All of those unwanted apps use a portion of your device’s limited storage capacity.
Even worse, some of them run in the background which consumes precious CPU and RAM resources, makes your device run slower than it should, and prematurely drains its battery charge.
The good news is many of those unwanted bloatware apps can be completely removed from the device, and the ones that can’t be uninstalled can be disabled to free up the precious resources they’re currently consuming.
Follow the steps below to uninstall or disable all the unwanted apps from your Android device:
Note: The exact steps for uninstalling and disabling apps can vary just a bit from device to device. Therefore you should use the procedure detailed below as a general guide.
1 – Tap the Settings icon (it looks like a “gear” or “cog“).
2 – Tap either Apps or Apps & notifications (depending on which label your device uses).
3 – Tap See all [X] apps to view the full list of apps that are currently installed on your device.
4 – Scroll through the list until you find the first app you want to uninstall (or disable) and then tap on its name.
5 – Tap Uninstall if that option is available. Otherwise, tap Disable.
6 – Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each of the other apps you don’t plan to ever use.
That’s all there is to it. Your phone or tablet should now be (at least a bit) faster and have a little extra free storage space.
And as a bonus, its battery charges might even last a little longer than they did in the past.
