As a school, it is within your interests to ensure your college students are as organized and secure as they can be.
One of the best ways to do this is to give them access to essential supplies that will enable them to reach their academic potential.
In this post, we will outline eight things you can provide them with to help them with their studies.
Whitney Houston once crooned, ‘Children are our future’. So, if you give them the luxury of these resources at their disposal, you’ll be doing your bit to ‘teach them well and let them lead the way’.
1 – Technology
Technology is here to stay, so the more you can present to your students, the better.
The wide umbrella of technology includes everything from laptops, tablets and interactive video screens to game-based learning, virtual and augmented reality systems, and adaptive learning platforms for homework.
All of these can significantly enhance the degree to which and effectiveness of how they learn.
If a child does not currently have a good relationship with technology, here is how they can improve it.
2 – School lockers
While technology is undoubtedly a good thing, it can also be a course of disruption, especially when it comes to the use of mobile phones during lesson time.
In fact, some schools have implemented a complete ban on devices during class hours, while many have introduced School Phone Lockers in the UK.
Your school will obviously have its own policy on mobile phone use. However, should you find your students are focusing too much on their devices in class, the latter is something to consider.
3 – Headphones
Another solution to reduce the effects of classroom noise and distractions from mobile phones is to provide your students with headphones.
They are a great tool for online learning resources. Ideally, they should be wireless and noise-cancelling, as they will enable students to mute the outside noise and focus on what is being taught.
4 – Individual whiteboards
Part of the school experience requires learning how to brainstorm, be creative, and enhance one’s reasoning skills, and a great tool for students to do that is an individual whiteboard.
What is great about these tools is that they significantly reduce the amount of paper used and wastage. Therefore, they are very environmentally friendly.
They can also be much better used in any setting, especially an outdoor one, than traditional pen and paper, even when standing up.
Additionally, as they can be completely cleared just by wiping them down, it doesn’t matter if a student makes a mistake. They can always just erase a particular section or rub the whole thing out.
5 – Binders
One of the best ways to ensure your students stay organized is to provide them with binders to keep their work in. These can include handouts, tests, assignments, artwork, and various other materials.
Schools could issue one for each subject a student does, which should be kept in class for ease of reference and accessibility.
5 – Lockers
Students, especially those in middle or high school, have a busy schedule of subjects which requires them to carry a number of books around with them.
Rather than lug them everywhere, it is important for schools to provide them with lockers in which to put them.
This will make them more organized, as they only need to take the particular books and resources they require for each lesson. They will also be able to keep their possessions more securely during class time.
6 – Hand sanitizer
Ask any parent, and they will tell you that children regularly pass germs on to one another, which can result in colds, flu, and gastro issues.
For this reason, it is in your interest to make hand sanitizers widely available throughout your school, especially in areas like the canteen and toilets.
The more time off children have from school due to illness, the greater the likelihood of their academic performance suffering, which in turn will not reflect well on your school.
7 – Water
Water is essential for hydration, which helps the body perform several key tasks, including preventing infections, keeping joints lubricated, and regulating temperature.
However, it is also critical for our cerebral function, as it enables your brain cells to better communicate with each other.
It does this by clearing out waste and toxins that can impair your brain function while, congruently, delivering nutrients to your brain to keep it healthy.
Subsequently, you should make sure there are plenty of drinking water sources available in the school.
