As you probably know, enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on an online account is just about the most effective way there is to prevent hackers from breaking into it.
In a nutshell, once Two-Factor Authentication has been enabled a hacker would have to have physical possession of your mobile phone in order to successfully login that account, even if he knows both your username and password.
These days virtually every major online service allows users to enable Two-Factor Authentication on their accounts, and luckily that includes the massively popular Pinterest.
If you would like to enable Two-Factor Authentication on your own Pinterest account you can easily do so by following the steps below:
Note: Even if you primarily use Pinterest on your phone or tablet via the mobile app you’ll need to use a laptop or desktop computer to enable Two-Factor Authentication on your account. For whatever reason, there’s currently no way to enable it from within the app itself.
1 – Log in to your Pinterest account in a web browser on a laptop or desktop computer (2FA cannot be enabled with a mobile device).
2 – Click the Menu icon located in the top right-hand corner of the window (it looks like three horizontal dots).
3 – Click Edit settings.
4 – Select the Security link from the menu over on the left.
5 – Find the “Security” section and click Require code at login to toggle that setting to On.
6 – Enter your Pinterest password and then follow the prompts.
That’s all there is to it. From now on anyone (including you) who tries to log log into your Pinterest account will have to have physical possession of your mobile phone in order to retrieve the access code and complete the login process.
No phone, no code. And no code, no logging in (even if the person knows your password)!
