Facebook makes it easy to upload and share videos with your friends, but downloading videos from Facebook to your computer has always been a challenge.
There are a number of browser extensions and third-party add-ons that claim to assist you with downloading Facebook videos, but many of them are actually malware. That’s why I never recommend any of them.
As luck would have it, there’s a way to download videos from Facebook to your computer without having to install anything at all.
While it works quite well, there are several steps involved. It isn’t all that complicated however, and once you’ve downloaded a few videos using this method you’ll be able to do it from memory.
With the above in mind, you can follow the steps below to download a Facebook video to your computer:
1 – Click on a video that you wish to download to open it in your web browser.
2 – Replace the www part of the URL in the address bar with the letter m. The easiest way to do this is use your mouse to highlight the www part of the URL, then simply press the m key followed by the Enter key.
If all went well, the URL should have changed from something that looks like this:
https://www.facebook.com/user_name/videos/vb.100006492619763/
to something that looks like this:
https://m.facebook.com/user_name/videos/vb.100006492619763/
The video should now be displayed on the mobile version of the Facebook website. You’ll know you’re viewing it via the mobile site because the video itself will appear to be smaller than it was before.
3 – Click on the video to play it.
4 – Right-click on the video while it’s playing, then click Save video as to save it to your computer.
5 – Repeat the steps above for any other videos which you wish to download.
That’s all there is to it. Now you know how to download Facebook videos without having to use a browser extension or third-party add-on!
