How to enable Battery Saver mode on your Windows 11 laptop
Windows 11 has a handy ‘Battery Saver’ mode that can help you squeeze some extra time out of your laptop’s battery charge if you need to.
In a nutshell, it preserves the battery charge by dimming the screen brightness, reducing background activity, and limiting some non-essential notifications.
By default, Battery Saver Mode will be enabled automatically when the battery charge drops to 20%.
However, there are several ways to manually turn on Battery Saver mode. Just choose the method below that works best for you…
Method 1: Use the Quick Settings menu
1 – Press the Windows+A key combination to open the Quick Settings menu.
2 – Click the Battery Saver icon.
Note 1: If your laptop is plugged into an electrical outlet the Battery Saver icon will be grayed out and you won’t be able to click it.
Note 2: To turn Battery Saver off simply repeat the steps above and click the Battery Saver icon again in step 2.
Method 2: Use the Settings app
1 – Right-click on the Start button, then click Settings.
2 – In the right-hand pane, scroll down and click Power & battery.
3 – Again in the right-hand pane, scroll down and click Battery Saver.
4 – Click Turn on now.
Note 1: If your laptop is plugged into an electrical outlet the “Turn on now” button will be grayed out and you won’t be able to click it.
Note 2: To turn Battery Saver off simply repeat the steps above and click Turn off now.
Method 3: Use the Windows Search tool
1 – Click the Start button, then type battery saver.
2 – Click Turn battery saver on or off.
3 – In the right-hand pane, click Turn on now.
Note 1: If your laptop is plugged into an electrical outlet the “Turn on now” button will be grayed out and you won’t be able to click it.
Note 2: To turn Battery Saver off simply repeat the steps above and click Turn off now.
