Today’s quick tech tip….
How (and why) to clear your Facebook app’s cache
Does the Facebook app on your phone or tablet seem to run a lot slower than it used to?
Or perhaps it’s constantly freezing up or crashing on you?
If the the answer to either of those questions is yes, some of the data stored in your Facebook app’s cache and/or storage could be corrupted, resulting in a performance hit and app instability.
Clearing the cache and storage will eliminate those problems if they are indeed corrupted.
Luckily, this is very easy to do. Just follow the steps below for the device you’re using.
Important: Clearing your Facebook app’s cache and storage will log you out of your Facebook account and you’ll have to sign back in again.
Make sure you’ll be able to sign back into your account before clearing the cache and storage. Just sayin’.
If you have an Android device:
1 – Tap the “gear” shaped Settings icon.
2 – Tap Apps & notifications.
3 – Tap See all [xx] apps.
4 – Scroll down and tap Facebook.
5 – Tap Storage & cache.
6 – Tap Clear storage.
7 – Tap Clear cache.
If you have an iPhone or iPad:
1 – Open the Facebook app.
2 – Tap the Menu icon.
3 – Scroll down and tap Settings & Privacy.
4 – Tap Settings.
5 – Scroll down to the “Permissions” section and tap Browser.
6 – Tap the Clear button next to “Your browsing data”.
That’s all there is to it. If a corrupted cache or storage item was causing issues with your Facebook app, those issues should now be cleared up.
