Today’s Quick Tip….
How to find out where the photos on your iPhone originated from
If your iPhone’s Photos app has lots of photos in it there’s a good chance that there are photos in there that you don’t remember taking with your iPhone.
As you probably know, the Photos app is a catch-all repository for most every photo you create or save with your iPhone. It makes no difference whether you took a photo with your phone’s camera or saved it from an email or social media, it’s going to end up in the Photos app.
If curiosity gets the best of you, it’s east to find out exactly how any given photo made its way into the Photos app. Here’s how:
1 – Open the Photos app and find a photo that you’d like to learn where it originated from.
2 – Tap on the photo to display it.
3 – Swipe up on the photo to display a panel that contains several pieces of info about the photo.
You should now see something like “Saved from Twitter”, “Saved from Facebook” or whatever app you were using when you saved the photo to the device.
If the photo was actually taken with your iPhone’s camera you’ll see a message stating that fact along with several items of EXIF data.
That’s all there is to it. Now you know how to find out exactly where the photos stored in your iPhone’s Photos app came from.
