Today’s Quick Tip….
How to ‘hide’ photos in your iPhone’s Photos app
Have you ever swiped through the photos in your iPhone’s Photos app looking for a picture you wanted to show to a friend, only to have them inadvertently see a photo (or video) that you really didn’t want them to see?
That happens to lots of folks eventually, and at times it can be rather embarrassing.
As luck would have it, Apple’s Photos app has a setting that will allow you to ‘hide’ certain photos from the main library view, thereby preventing them from showing up while you’re swiping through your photos.
Don’t worry, you’ll still be able to access those hidden photos quite easily. The ‘Hide’ setting simply prevents them from showing up at an inconvenient time.
If you have one or more photos (or videos) on your iPhone that you’d like to hide simply follow the steps below to get it done:
1 – Find the photo (or video) you’d like to hide.
2 – Tap the Share icon that’s located in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
3 – Scroll down and tap Hide.
Now that you know how to hide photos and videos from the Photo app’s main library view, here’s an important caveat that you need to keep in mind…
Hiding photos and videos in this manner won’t prevent another experienced iPhone user from finding them if they manage to somehow take possession of your phone. They are easily accessible via a few quick taps.
While this is a very effective way to prevent certain photos and videos from appearing while you’re swiping through your photos, it isn’t an effective way to prevent someone from accessing them if they actually have your phone.
If you really want to lock your private photos and videos down tight you need to do one or both of the following:
1 – Put a strong passcode on your phone.
2 – Install a good File Locker app and use it to password-protect your private photos and videos.
There are several such apps in the app store. Just search for file locker and you’ll find them right away.
