Today’s Quick Tip….
How to safely clean your TV or monitor screen
If you look closely at the screen on your TV or computer monitor you’ll likely see that it’s covered with dust and (possibly) other types of ‘dirt’.
If so, giving it a proper cleaning could result in a more enjoyable viewing experience.
The thing is, you can’t just spray a modern flat-panel screen with Windex and wipe it off with a paper towel like you could back in the days of glass CRT screens.
Flat panel displays are coated with special chemicals that can easily be damaged or removed from the screen’s surface by Windex and other common glass cleaners.
Also, it’s very important to be gentle when cleaning a screen because they are quite sensitive to the touch.
With those precautions in mind, here is my recommended method of cleaning modern flat panel screens like the ones found in TVs and computer monitors:
1 – Turn off the TV/monitor and unplug its power cord.
2 – Gently blow the loose dust and loose ‘dirt’ off the screen with a can of compressed air to prevent it from scratching the screen while you’re rubbing it down in the next steps.
3 – Using a pre-moistened lens and screen cleaning wipe, gently rub the screen in circular motions to start the process of removing any ‘dirt’ that might be ‘stuck’ to the screen.
Do not scrub or press down hard on the screen’s surface as that could easily damage the screen.
And don’t keep rubbing in one spot. Instead, quickly, but gently give the entire screen a preliminary wiping.
4 – Inspect the screen from various angles to identify any areas that contain residual ‘dirt’ and use a fresh wipe to give those areas another round of circular wiping motions.
5 – Keep repeating step #4 until the entire screen appears to be clean and free of any type of ‘dirt’.

Rick’s Daily Pick…
Sabrent USB 3.0 Dual Bay Hard Drive Docking Station (#ad)
This handy docking station will allow you to connect two bare SATA hard drives to your PC or Mac via a single USB port.
Have some hard drives laying around that you’ve pulled from old computers? You can use this device to connect those drives to your computer so you can retrieve the photos and other files from them.
Want to clone the contents of one drive onto another? With this device it’s as simple as pushing a button.
This little gem from Sabrent can accept two 2.5 inch laptop drives, two 3.5 inch desktop drives, or one of each. Any configuration works just fine.
Today’s post from ‘My Daily Smile’…
Say what? The last person to draw a Civil War pension just recently passed away.
The Civil War ended more than a century and half ago, but the last person to draw a pension based on serving in that war didn’t pass away until last year.
