Have you ever found a gift card that you had forgotten about lying around the house and wondered if it had a spendable balance on it?
If so, you probably stuck it in your wallet or purse and asked the cashier to check the balance on it the next time you visited that store.
But there’s an easier way to check the balance on gift cards from hundreds of retailers, restaurants, gas stations and more.
In fact, you can quickly check the balance on most any gift card using your own computer or smart phone. Here’s how:
Simply head over to giftcardbalancenow.com. Once there, type the name of the retailer who issued the card and follow the prompts.
After you enter the card number and you’ll be given the spendable balance (if any) on the gift card within just a few seconds.
If you are asked for a pin, you’ll usually find it on the back of the card under the “stuff” that you scratch off with a coin.
Note 1: Some retailers’ websites don’t have an online balance-checking tool. In those cases you’ll be given a toll-free phone number to call.
Note 2: If the retailer that issued your gift card isn’t one of the over 900 businesses listed on the site, all is not lost. You still might be able to check the balance on the card.
Just try typing the name of the retailer into Google along with the words check gift card balance and see what pops up. There’s certainly no guarantee but there’s a good chance you’ll be able to check the card’s balance, either online or on the phone.
Bottom line: Don’t just assume that gift card you just stumbled across is worthless. Head over to giftcardbalancenow.com and find out for sure!
Bonus tip: Did you know you can sell your unwanted gift cards for cash? Well, you can, and this post explains how.
