Question from Rita: My granddaughter is in the Air Force and the last time she was in she opened a Snapchat account on my phone so I can chat with her while she’s overseas.
The name she gave me on there is “Grandma”.
That’s fine, but I’ve recently started talking to other people on Snapchat and I’d like to use my real name instead of Grandma.
Can you tell me how to change it?
Rick’s answer: It’s actually pretty easy to change your Display Name on Snapchat, Rita.
All it takes is a few taps. Here’s how:
1 – Open the Snapchat app and log in to your account.
2 – Open your “Profile” page by tapping on your profile icon in the top-left corner of the screen.
3 – Tap the Settings icon in the top-right corner of the screen (it looks like a “gear” or “cog“).
4 – In the “My Account” section, tap Name.
5 – Tap the name that’s already there (in your case, tap Grandma) and then type your real name into the box.
6 – Tap Save.
That’s all there is to it. From now on the people you chat with with see your real name instead of the word “Grandma”.
Update from Rita: Thanks, Rick. I really appreciate your help.
