Review: Vido W8X 8″ Windows 10 Tablet PC

I’ve used a number of tablets in the past, and as expected, some were better than others.

While I love my Android phone, I’m not a huge fan of Android-powered tablets. They just seem to be too limited for my tastes. And while Apple’s iPad line is outstanding, they’re a bit over-priced in my opinion.

Since I primarily use tablets when I’m traveling, I’d rather take along something that’s a little less expensive just in case it gets lost or stolen.

Personally, I prefer to use a tablet that runs Microsoft Windows.

I can add a keyboard cover and Bluetooth mouse and have a Windows tablet that works exactly like a really small laptop. That’s perfect for traveling since I can just toss it into a suitcase. [Read more…]

Review: LG gram 15Z960 i7 15.6″ Laptop

lg-gram-15z960-laptop In my humble opinion, a modern laptop should be blazing fast and have a large screen, yet be comfortably light and compact.

The computer manufacturers are getting better at designing machines that meet this goal, and whenever I see one that looks promising I’m always eager to spend some time checking it out.

I recently had the opportunity to put the new LG gram 15Z960 i7 15.6″ laptop through its paces, and while it isn’t perfect (does a “perfect” laptop even exist?), I found it to be a very good machine that easily meets the fast CPU/large screen/lightweight/compact criteria mentioned above. Review: Apple MacBook Pro MF839LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop with Retina Display

macbook-pro-mf839lla Apple’s Macbook Pro line of laptops has earned the reputation of being rock-solid performers, albeit at a slightly higher price than you would expect to pay for a Windows laptop with the same basic hardware specs.

Every Macbook that has been released was a great machine, and the sleek MacBook Pro MF839LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop with Retina Display is simply outstanding. Although it comes with a slightly smaller 13.3 inch display, that display is a bright and vivid 2560-by-1600 “Retina” display that is simply a joy to use. [Read more…]

Bluegrass is the music of choice for many who enjoy the magical combination of acoustic music and fine vocal harmonies.

In my humble opinion, anyone who has never heard good Bluegrass music performed live is surely missing out on one of life’s greatest pleasures.

Many artists who have already achieved great success in Country and other genres of music are now crossing over into Bluegrass, joining Rhonda Vincent, Doyle Lawson and countless other Bluegrass greats in helping to promote the sounds of this wonderful music to the masses.

Review: EaseUS Todo Backup Free

These days our computers are loaded down with programs, apps, photos, videos and other files that we simply could never replace if something were to happen to our hard drive.

That’s why it’s so important to always have a current backup of your system at the ready.

All recent versions of Windows have decent backup capabilities built-in, and I have written several posts explaining how to use them. That being said, there are times when it helps to have something a lot more powerful and easier to use than Windows’ integrated backup tools. [Read more…]
