Q&A: What’s the best way to save and organize your newsletter emails?

Posted on March 16, 2021

Question from Miranda:  I absolutely love your emails, Rick.

Thanks so much for sending them!

I learn something from them almost every day and they’ve answered several questions that had been nagging me for a really long time.

The problem I’m having is finding your emails in the sea of other emails in my Inbox.

Because of my work I receive dozens of important emails every day and your one daily email always seems to get “lost” in the stack.

It’s there, but really hard to find when I need to refer to something you had written about before.

What I need is an easy way to “file” your emails in one place so I won’t have to go scrolling through a list of thousands of other unrelated emails to find the one I’m looking for.

Q&A: How can I keep the WiFi from disconnecting in Windows 10?

Posted on March 11, 2021

Question from Aaron S:  Hi Rick. I really like your blog and appreciate all the help you give to so many people.

I hope you can help me with an issue I’m having with my HP laptop.

Ever since I updated it to Windows 10 the WiFi automatically disconnects after about 30 minutes and I have to reboot the computer to get it turned back on.

How can I keep the WiFi working until I actually shut the laptop down?

Q&A: Can you recommend a good, lightweight and free antivirus app?

Posted on March 10, 2021

Question from Oliver P.: I need some advice for choosing an antivirus app for an older computer.

I have a Dell desktop PC with Windows 7 on it. This machine came with a pair of 2GB RAM sticks installed for a total of 4GB of RAM.

One of the RAM sticks went bad so I removed it.

I not going to replace the bad RAM stick because I’m planning to just use this computer offline for various things since Microsoft has stopped supporting Windows 7.

Q&A: Why is the screen in my MacBook Pro not working?

Posted on March 10, 2021

Question from Angela S.:  I hope you can help me with a computer problem, Rick.

I have a 2016 model 15″ MacBook Pro that has always worked perfectly till last night.

When I turned it on this morning the screen stayed black. Everything else seems to be working.

I tried closing and opening the lid a few times and turning the machine off and on but it always stays black.

Do you think the screen is bad? If it is how much will it cost to get it fixed?

I really can’t afford to spend too much due to my current financial situation.

Q&A: Will the RAM in my old laptop work in a new one?

Posted on March 1, 2021

Note: The links in this post are affiliate links.

Question from Mike T.:  The screen in my laptop went bad and I’m getting ready to buy a new one.

The old machine is a Dell Inspiron 14 5000 that I bought back in January 2015.

Since the old Dell has 16GB of RAM in it I was wondering if it’s possible to buy a new laptop with just 4GB of RAM and then swap the RAM from the Dell into the new laptop?
