Today’s quick tech tip….
How to back up and restore your Firefox bookmarks
Yesterday’s “Quick Tip” explained how to back up and restore the bookmarks in your Chrome browser so you’ll be able to restore them if they ever get lost or corrupted.
Today I’m going to explain how to back up and restore your bookmarks in Firefox. Just follow the steps below:
1 – Connect a USB flash drive to the computer to receive the exported bookmarks file.
2 – Open Firefox and click the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner of the widow, then select Bookmarks from the menu.
3 – At the bottom of the menu, select Manage bookmarks.
Note: The Bookmarks Library should now be open on your screen.
4 – Select Import and Backup from the top menu bar, then select Export Bookmarks to HTML from the menu.
5 – Navigate to the USB flash drive you connected in step 1, then click the Save button.
That’s all there is to it. You should now have a file named bookmarks.html on the USB flash drive containing a backup of all your Firefox bookmarks. I recommend that you place this drive in a secure place for safekeeping.
If you ever need to recover your bookmarks simply repeat the steps above using the same USB flash drive and select Import Bookmarks from HTML in step 4.
