Today’s quick tech tip….
How to (possibly) speed up Windows 11 by disabling animations
Windows 11 has some nifty-looking animations and fading effects that make the user interface look a bit more polished when performing certain tasks.
But unfortunately, those animation effects add a slight delay to those tasks.
This isn’t really an issue for computers with beefier hardware, but the delay can be quite noticeable on some lower-powered machines.
Luckily, it’s easy to experiment to see if turning animations off will make a noticeable difference in the apparent speed of your Windows 11 machine. Just follow the steps below:
1 – Right-click the Start button, then select Settings from the menu.
2 – In the left-hand pane, click Accessibility.
3 – In the right-hand pane, click Visual effects.
4 – Toggle the “Animation effects” setting to Off (the slider should turn gray).
That’s all there is to it. You can now use your PC for a day or two to see if things appear to be a little more snappy for you.
If not, you can simply reverse the procedure above to re-enable animations.
