How to find out how much of your phone’s storage is being used
Are you concerned that your smartphone might be running low on free storage space?
It’s quite easy to check to see how much of your phone’s storage is currently being used and how much free space is still available. Just follow the steps below for your device type…
Note: The steps listed below for both iPhones and Androids might vary just a bit depending on the version of the operating system that’s currently installed on your phone. Therefore, you should use these directions as a general guide.
If you have an iPhone:
1 – Tap the “gear” shaped Settings icon.
2 – Tap General.
3 – Tap iPhone Storage. You should now see a status bar showing the amount of storage that’s currently being used.
4 – Subtract the amount that’s being used from the total amount of storage that’s in your phone to get the amount that’s still free and available for use.
You also have the option of following some of the recommendations on that screen to free up some of the space that’s in use.
If you have an Android phone:
1 – Tap the “gear” shaped Settings icon.
2 – Tap Storage. You should now see a status bar showing the amount of storage that’s currently being used.
3 – Subtract the amount that’s being used from the total amount of storage that’s in your phone to get the amount that’s still free and available for use.
You also have the option of tapping the Free up space button and then following the Cleaning suggestions to free up some of the space that’s in use.
